Weather permitting some will be a Pleasant Plein Air all day painting workshop. What is Plein Air Painting, and drawing?

Plein air painting can be very rewarding, and with a little practice you'll soon know what to pack and what to leave behind in your studio. Plein air is a term derived from the French phrase en plein air, which literally means 'in the open air'. It's a familiar concept today, but in the late 1800s when the Impressionists ventured out of their studios into nature to investigate and capture the effects of sunlight and different times of days on a subject, it was quite revolutionary

PORTRAIT WORKSHOP:

Artists gave a work shop. We all learned about Dry Color Pencils, drawing a Portrait of a young lady.

AHOY MATEYS: This will be a Pleasant Plein Air all day painting workshop dock side, There is a covered area with tables in shade to work at also. Bathroom, and Ship store with refreshments, including beer. Boats are moving in and out to the fuel dock area, where most sailors love to tell you about their boats. 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM with I hour for lunch as a group in quaint Little River Waterfront...or the Marinas own Officers Club...optional you may bring your own lunch and work through lunch. Most places to eat in area sandwiches are $8 or so. Artists may Draw or Paint , Acrylic or Watercolor or any medium of choice.. It is suggested to bring your camera to record your image so can start many and finish at home or in class. It is always good to have several works to work on .INSTRUCTION:I will do a presentation under the covered area by the ship store on these topics before we start splitting up. I will make the rounds to help individually throughout the day . COMPOSITION LAYOUT PERSPECTIVE, LINE ,VALUE, COLOR..It is suggested to bring a hat, sun umbrella...optional ( I have 3... I can bring), stool, easel or work off lap with drawing board, or prop on the many benches..Bring also your supplies, water can, a cover up, and plastic drop cloth if you think you need it..also proper dress for weather. I find at the marina it heats up in the afternoon, so layers may be best.

What is an ACEO ?? GREAT FOR GIFTS, on a little easel .. Required size is 2.5 inches x 3.5 inches Art Cards can be a riot!
